Chica Vampiro cake

Decor:30mn the day before / 30mn on d-day

Serves: 10-12
Ingredients
  • one 20cm diameter cake covered with white fondant icing*
  • 100g black fondant icing
  • 200g fuchsia fondant icing
  • 50cm fuchsia ribbon and / or black ribbon
  • few drops flashy pink and purple colouring gel
  • thin wooden skewers
  • one black 30cm diameter cake platter (optional but practical)
  • edible glue
  • 2 soft toothbrushes (the cheapest kindsd are fine)
  • 1 pair of disposable latex gloves (really recommended) + protection for the table on which you'll decorate the cake
Instructions
  1. Start by printing the Chica Vampiro logo on a stiff piece of paper and cut out the letters and bat (you can slightly increase the size of the bat). The decoration of the cake can be made the day before or on the day, however, the elements that go on the skewers need to dry for at least 24 hours.
Prepare the fondant elements:
  1. Spread the black fondant to 3mm thick. Place the bat template on the spread fondant and cut into 4 or 5 bats following the template with a sharp knife. Put the bats on a sheet of baking paper then fix the end of a skewer with a piece of black fondant (you may need to add some edible glue) on each of them. Let dry at least 24 hours in the open air. Be careful, even dry the bats are fragile, so handle them carefully.
  2. Repeat the same process with the fuchsia fondant using a cookie cutter to cut out hearts.
  3. Then spread out the remaining fuchsia fondant a little thiner directly on a baking sheet and cut out the letters of the logo following your template. The word "Chica" is really small, so you can shape the letters with small fondant sausages. Let dry in the open air.
Make the pattern with the toothbrush:
  1. Place the cake on the black cake platter.
  2. Put on latex gloves and protect the table with a plastic cloth (less glamorous but works fine: a cut out garbage bag) because the colouring goes everywhere. Put the equivalent of a pea of flashy pink colouring in a small bowl. Dip a toothbrush in water and then let the water drip over the colouring..
  3. Mix with the tip of the toothbrush, it is normally enough to dilute the colouring to the right consistency (if necessary add one or two more drops of water but no more, the colour should remain quite concentrated).
  4. Then distribute the colour on the cake by rubbing your finger on the bristles of the toothbrush regularly turning the cake. Do the same with the purple colouring.
  5. Let dry 30 minutes in a dry place.
Finalize the decor:
  1. Once the colours are dry, wrap around the bottom of you Chica Vampiro cake the fuchsia and black ribbons and secure them with a little edible glue.
  2. Paste the text of the logo on top of the cake with a little edible glue and stick the bats and hearts skewers in the cake.
  3. Keep your cake Chica Vampiro in a cool and dry place.
Notes
- I piled two 20cm cake, each made with a classic recipe for 20cm cake in order to have a very high cake. For the icing frosting pot enough. And you will need around 900g of white fondant to cover the cake.

- Bats and hearts skewers can be prepared several days in advance to save time.
