In this wake of Father's Day, I'll reveal you a secret of my father. I'll offer you the recipe with which he seduced my mother! When they were students, he used to cook her meringué grapefruits. This brilliant recipe gives a very nice impression even when you are totally broke, a great presentation, a very soft and caramelized meringue and a fondant grapefruit; I understand she was seduced. Dessert lightweight bonus!
Meringue grapefruit
Prep: 15mins
Cooking: 15mins
Serves 4 people
- 2 grapefruits
- 3 egg whites
- 90g sugar
Preheat the oven to grill.
Cut the grapefruit in 2 horizontally and prepare pre-cutting areas.
Place the egg whites in a bowl over a pan of simmering water and using an egg beater, whisk the egg whites until they form stiff peaks.. Add the sugar and whisk until stiff and glossy (the bowl always being over a pan of simmering water, this is the secret of meringue).
Then divide the egg white froth on the top of each half-grapefruit with a spoon or a pastry bag. Then sprinkle with a few grains of sugar.
Bake at mid-height in the oven under the grill. Leave the meringué grapefruits to golden for 6 to 8mins monitoring frequently.
Serve immediately while still warm.

Chloe @: Not risk, the bark does not burn in such a short time because it very wet at the base. As against it dries a little and it gives off a wonderful fragrance! And the pulp a little confit is delicious.

Just a question what temperature the grill? Because mine was automatically placed on 275 ° and it soon began burnt!
@ Julie: I do not have the ability to adjust the temperature of my grill to be honest but it is quite sure that if it can go very fast. Say that the secret is to monitor :-)
